The newly revamped PlayStation Plus service is set to launch soon, kicking things off with Asia on May 23rd, 2022 before moving to Japan on June 1st, the Americas on June 13th, and wrapping things up with Europe, Australia, and New Zealand on June 22nd. At launch, PlayStation Plus (PS+) will offer 3 different tiers: “Essential” (basically the current PS+ service), “Extra” (“Essential” plus a curated catalog of PS4 & PS5 games), and “Premium” (“Extra” plus access to a classic games catalog, cloud streaming, and time-limited trials).

Games: PlayStation has built their name on high-quality first party games and they hope to use that same reputation to kick start their new-look PlayStation Plus service with 35+ PS4/PS5 games included in the lineup (for Extra and Premium tiers) at launch. In addition to the strong first party selection which includes Demon’s Souls, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and Ghost of Tsushiman Director’s Cut; the service will also include 20+ games from third-party partners. These partner titles range from AAA titles like Control: Ultimate Edition and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy to smaller award-winning indies like Celeste and The Artful Escape.

Even More Games: PlayStation Plus Premium users will also gain access to a “Classic Games Catalog” that includes 20+ games and a selection of “Original PS3 Games” that number 25+ (via cloud-streaming) from PlayStation’s first party studios and third party partners. For those who prefer to buy their games outright, the service will also include time-limited trials of games from Horizon Forbidden West to Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands for Premium tier subscribers.

Similar to its largest competitor (Xbox Game Pass) in the video games subscription space, PlayStation plans to refresh their catalog offerings twice a month on first and third Tuesdays. For more information on the full offering of launch titles, check out this PlayStation Blog post.
