It’s been about six months since the last major Minecraft update and version 1.19 promises to spice things up with new biomes, mobs, and more when it releases next week on June 7th.

Anyone have a light? The first new Overworld biome headed to the blocky world of Minecraft with the latest update is the “Deep Dark”, a new underground area found below the surface in areas with low erosion. This new biome tends to be covered with large patches of sculk blocks. No mobs spawn in this new biome; however, there’s a catch…if a player triggers a sculk shrieker four times, then a new hostile mob, “The Warden” will appear. Similar to berserkers from the Gears of War series, Wardens rely on their senses of smell and hearing, as they are completely blind. Their lack of sight doesn’t hold them back in the damage department though – they will deal the highest non-explosive damage of any mob in the game when they land on June 7th. In addition to this fearful new mob, ancient cities, glow lichen, and more surprises can also be found in the new Deep Dark biome.

So Swampy The other new biome coming in Minecraft’s 1.19 update is the Mangrove Swamp. This one is much more relaxed and foliage-filled than its predecessor, the Deep Dark. Similar to the regular swamp biome, mangrove swamps can spawn in humid and warm areas. In addition to other previously available mobs, the Mangrove Swamp will also be home to one of the update’s new mobs, the long-awaited frog. Similar to real frogs, the frog mob will have different forms throughout its lifecycle from a tadpole to a fully grown adult frog…a ribbiting time awaits!

Last, but not least, the third and final mob joining your blocky form in the world of Minecraft is the “Allay”, a passive flying mob that will help you collect items and may even break out some fancy dance moves. Join the party when update 1.19 drops on June 7th.
