The rumors were true. DM-Esports, the parent company of Overwatch League’s Paris Eternal and Call of Duty League’s Paris Legion, are relocating both franchises to Las Vegas. The announcement comes after trademark filings were discovered online revealing the new team branding, “Vegas Eternal” and “Vegas Legion”. The move will become official next year in 2023.

While the shift will satisfy Activision-Blizzard’s desire to bring OWL and CDL teams to Las Vegas, it will in-turn hurt the leagues’ European aspirations. The move will leave the London Spitfire as the only European team in the OWL and the London Royal Ravens as the sole European team left in the CDL. Currently in 2022, both teams are struggling in their respective leagues. The Paris Eternal started the season going 0-6 and failed to qualify for the OWL Kickoff Clash, while the Paris Legion recently fell into last place in the CDL.
