Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the successor to Respawn’s highly successful game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was officially announced at Star Wars Celebration in Anaheim, California this past week.
Fallen Order followed Cal Kestis, a Jedi padawan who survived Order 66, as he embarked on a journey to find a holocron that contained information to save the Jedi Order. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will take place five years after Fallen Order and will once again feature Cal Kestis and everyone’s favorite droid, BD-1. Respawn stated that the overall tone of Survivor will be a darker one and that Cal would need to do whatever it takes to stay alive, as one of the last Jedi. Game director Stig Asmussen teased that this might mean “making connections with people that, in other times, might be considered unsavory.” The events of Survivor will take place during the same point in time as the Disney+ series “Obi-Wan Kenobi” and “Andor.”
While Respawn has not shown gameplay footage publicly as of yet, the studio has touched on its approach to combat and progression. Asmussen stated, “Jedi: Survivor will expand on the series’ dynamic combat in new and innovative ways. In order to survive, Cal must learn new skills and grow his connection with the Force.”
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is set to release in 2023 and will be available on next-gen consoles (Xbox Series X & S and PS5) and on PC.
