Activision Blizzard officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) to be released on November 10, 2023. While leaks may have spoiled the big announcement and what the logo would look like, the hype around another Call of Duty game is at an all-time high. As of the time of this article, the almost two minute teaser video has amassed over 6.8 million views on YouTube. The clip goes as far to show in-game gameplay clips, the “bad guy” Makarov, and announce the worldwide reveal of the game and what gamers can expect, coming on August 17.

For most games that release on an annual or semi-annual basis, a new title means the loss of all in-game purchased items, add-ons, DLC, etc. But with MW3, Activision-Blizzard announced something new to Call of Duty, “Carry Forward”. Carry Forward will allow players to keep and carry over weapons, cosmetics, bundles, operators, and other unlocked in-game items from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone. This does come with a caveat being that there will be a small amount of content that may be unavailable from the previous versions of the game, if they are not offered in MW3. As of now, there is not a complete list of what will and won’t be allowed to carry over. Activision Blizzard did confirm there will not be a “carry back” feature for items earned in MW3 to be used in MW2 and Warzone.

In an unusual move, MW3 will be offered on the PS4 and Xbox One. If the leaks are to be believed (the leak was correct on the launch date), beta access would open up for PS4/PS5 on their first week of beta testing on October 6-10. Week two of beta testing would include Xbox One, X|S, and PC users along with PS4/PS5. Early campaign access would begin on November 2 with the full launch on November 10. Season 1 would launch on December 5.
