Eyes up, Guardians! Bungie has announced details for its upcoming Destiny 2 Showcase in August. Destiny 2 players can “discover what lies beyond” on Tuesday, August 22, at 12pm EST. Players have known a Destiny 2 Showcase was coming in August but the exact time hadn’t been revealed until this announcement. Guardians wanting to tune in can watch it on the Bungie Twitch channel or the Destiny 2 Youtube channel.
Anticipation for the showcase is pretty high, as the upcoming expansion, “The Final Shape,” is the conclusion to the Light & Darkness Saga that the entire series has been building up to. The roadmap for some time has pointed to this expansion as the big finale for all the story threads and world events to come together and be resolved. What comes after The Final Shape is a mystery that Guardians are hoping to get some answers about along with information about this expansion.
After Lightfall dropped to some disappointment, fans are hoping that The Final Shape really delivers on a strong addition to the world and the experience. Lightfall ended up feeling more like a new Season with a little extra pizazz and not the experience that typically comes from a mainline expansion. A teaser for the expansion revealed that fan favorite character Cayde-6 would be returning and once again voiced by Nathan Fillion, adding to the hype and big expectations to come.
Bungie has announced their next big project in the PvP shooter Marathon and that leaves Destiny 2 in a weird position of uncertainty with the current roadmap running out after The Final Shape.
