The long anticipated wait is over as Spider-Man 2 swings onto the PlayStation platform. Following the success of Spider-Man and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2 features both web slingers and a trove of classic Spider-Man villains all in a larger map of New York City that builds upon both of the games prior.

Although Spider-Man 2 left the PS4 in its web and is only playable on the PS5, it didn’t stop the suspense leading up to the release. The team at Insomniac Games seem to have assimilated  with the hype and demand to deliver. Having earned a 91 overall score and a 98% recommended to play on OpenCritic, Spider-Man 2 has the makings to be one of the best, if not the best, superhero video game ever. If the rating of this game isn’t evidence enough, Spider-Man 2 has shattered PlayStation Studios’ 24-hour sales rating, selling over 2.5 million copies after its release on October 20.

In a release, Eric Lempel, senior vice president of global marketing, sales, and business operations for Sony Interactive Entertainment stated, “On behalf of Sony Interactive Entertainment, I want to say thank you to the fans — we truly hope you are enjoying your time playing as Peter and Miles in this amazing adventure.”

After shattering the 24-hour record, last held by God of War Ragnarok, up next would be the one week record, currently held by the same game Spider-Man 2 dethroned in 24-hours with God of War Ragnarok having sold 5.1 million copies in its first week. With Spider-Man 2 swinging into a strong start, many believe Kratos could be caught in the web soon enough!
