With a 2022 release date promised to World of Warcraft players, the next expansion from Blizzard, Dragonflight, opened to alpha testers this week. Several prominent streamers received access and have streamed footage to thousands of gamers that want to see what their next adventure in Azeroth will look like.

For gamers who love spending time customizing their characters, the new Dracthyr class allows you to fully customize the look of both the dragon and the human forms. If that wasn’t enough customization, the new Dragonriding feature allows players to customize their new dragon mount as well. Once you are done with the customization, you enter the snow-covered mountainous zone of Azure Span, the third zone of the expansion. There are quest lines and NPCs available in the zone, but nothing that is giving away the overall story of the expansion.

In addition to a new race, class, and flying system, the long outdated user interface is getting a face lift for the first time in over ten years. The main changes can be seen on the action bars in the alpha, but Blizzard have confirmed there are more UI changes coming, just not released in the alpha as of yet.

The overall reception has been very positive. From the UI changes to the new advanced ‘Envoker’ class to the graphics, fans of WoW seem to be hopeful that this expansion can revitalize the franchise and bring new and returning players to Azeroth.
