After a three year absence, E3 is officially coming back! Well, we already knew it was coming back. Now there are details to get excited about! E3 will return to the LA Convention Center in 2023, from June 13th to June 16th. Just like in recent years there will be digital partner events before the show begins, starting on June 11th. After the event was canceled in 2020, was digital-only in 2021, and canceled again in 2022, it’s very comforting to have some firm details about everyone’s favorite gaming industry event.
Along with dates, it was revealed that E3 is turning back the clock a little bit. Instead of the combined industry and consumer event of recent years, the expo is separating the two. Tuesday, June 13th to Thursday, June 15th is the industry expo, formally called “E3 Business Days”. This will be for industry pros and gaming media. “E3 Gamer Days” take place Thursday the 15th and Friday the 16th, in a separate hall from E3 Business Days. E3 Gamer Days will focus on gamers getting their hands on the latest games and hardware while networking with other gamers, developers, personalities, and everyone else there who loves video games.
E3 2023 will be the first event since the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) partnered with ReedPop to plan and run the event. ReedPop is known for events like New York Comic Con, PAX, and Star Wars Celebration. They’ve promised to make E3 into a “world class event to serve the global gaming industry.” While E3 used to be the biggest gaming event of the year, the expo has declined some in recent years. The partnership with ReedPop should bring some excitement and flair back to the event while allowing the industry to have a chance to come together again. Are you planning to be at E3 in 2023? Maybe we’ll see you there!
