Fans of E3 have something to celebrate: the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) is calling in the big guns to help revitalize the show for 2023. ReedPop has officially been brought on to run the show and build it back into something amazing. ReedPop is known for running beloved events such as PAX, New York Comic Con, Star Wars Celebration, and many others. Needless to say, this is a group that understands running large, multi-day events that are meant to be equal parts entertainment and business.

E3’s decline started with major companies deciding to run their own virtual and in-person events rather than participate in the showcase. Pivoting to digital-only events due to Covid-19 restrictions only pushed the show further towards the end. The show was canceled completely for 2022 and Summer Games Fest has stepped fully into the space the event left. ReedPop inherits a challenge to resurrect the mighty show to previous heights, but E3 is such a beloved part of the gaming world that there is plenty for them to work with. Certainly there is an eager audience waiting for the chance to come back.

It’s not clear what exactly ReedPop has in mind for E3 in 2023, but it has been confirmed that the event will be virtual and in-person and take place in LA. Beyond that, all that ReedPop has said is that they have been listening and gathering feedback. The goal is to take the things that worked well and amplify them and take the things that didn’t work and rework them to be something new and exciting. It may just be a case of saying the right things right now, but gamers everywhere have good cause to be excited for whatever the ESA and ReedPop bring to us in June 2023.
