One of the biggest games of 2023 is around the corner and the developers at Bethesda took time to hold a Q&A session to provide more insight into Starfield. Set to launch on September 6, 2023, the Xbox exclusive game is already shattering the hype meter with just weeks to go before its release.

Lead quest designer Will Shen and lead designer Emil Pagliarulo answered sixteen questions fans submitted about the upcoming title. Companions were a big bit in the long trailer for Starfield (mainly the fact you can have a super fan join your team and when he gets annoying, you can…dispose of him), but information on their roles in the game were not expanded on. All we really know so far is that they’ll have unique backstories and that crew members will be able to be assigned to outposts to perform tasks.

Shen and Pagliarulo were also asked about the influences that helped shape Starfield. To no surprise, they answered Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, Buck Rogers, Event Horizon, Contact, Interstellar, and 2001: A Space Odyssey played major roles in helping inspire and shape the massive universe of Starfield.

One of the more hyped answers was that of the question of player housing. For World of Warcraft fans, the idea of player housing has been a hot button topic for Blizzard and their lack of willingness to give players the option of housing. For Starfield fans, they will be able to have player houses from launch and they will be available in all major cities.

There is also a justice system that has some Skyrim vibes to it. If the player is caught committing a crime, they can be imprisoned. To avoid jail time, players can pay a fine, or players can go full GTA-Mode and run from the cops.

Starfield launches on September 6th and is now available to be pre-loaded on both retail and Xbox Game Pass versions of the game. Starfield will take up a sizable amount of storage, coming in at 100 GB on the Xbox.
