For fans of the premier NBA video game, July marks the announcement of the cover athlete for the next edition. For 2024, a familiar face will grace the cover. Hall of Famer and NBA legend Kobe Bryant was announced as the cover athlete for NBA2K 2024. This is the fourth time Bryant will be present on the cover of the franchise.
The Laker’s Superstar will be featured on two editions of the game. The “Kobe Bryant Edition” with Bryant wearing his number 8 jersey from the first half of his career, while the “Black Mamba Edition” will feature Bryant in his number 24 jersey for the latter half of his career. Two other editions will be made available as well. The “25th Anniversary Edition” will feature a championship ring, while the WNBA cover will be graced by New York Liberty’s very own Sabrina Ionescu.
Kobe Bryant first appeared on the 2K cover back in 2010. Bryant was also featured as the special edition athlete cover in 2017. Following his unfortunate passing in 2020, Take Two announced a “Mamba Forever Edition” to celebrate the life of Kobe Bryant as well.
Pre-orders for all editions are now live as of July 7. NBA2K 2024 will be released on September 8, 2023 and will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The 25th Anniversary Edition will only be available to purchase until September 10, 2023.
