While EA gets a fair amount of criticism for their lack of updates from year-to-year in their sports based gaming titles, developers admit that the long awaited scouting feature in Madden’s Franchise Mode was driven by community feedback. On Monday’s EA Play Live Spotlight Series, the panel which was composed of Madden Executive Producer Seann Graddy, Madden Franchise Producer Tom Lischke, and Madden Game Designer Andre Weingarten, stated the scouting feature will be the first of three content updates for this year’s Madden. The release of the update is said to be coming in September.

In the scouting update, Madden will be moving away from the old point based system and will focus on the player making key decisions that will affect the information they receive for their draft board. In game scouts will have their own strengths and weakness and the player determines who is hired and set the scout’s instructions for specific positions or draft needs. For players that want a simpler franchise playthrough, the CPU will scout for the gamer if they are not interested in the more in depth feature.

Madden 22 is set to release on August 12, 2021.
