The Pokémon Company has had a steady flow of news and reveals going for the newest mainline installments of the series. Over on its Youtube page, the Pokémon Company has shown off new Pokémon, a new gym leader, and a 14 minute look at what gameplay will really be like in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are set to release on November 18th with a lot of hype and intrigue to go with it!

As was already revealed, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is ditching the classic Pokémon formula for a true open world. Players will have 3 different storylines they can run down in any order they want and at any time they want. It sounds like you can even ignore all 3 of them and just explore. It seems likely that certain things will only be unlocked or obtained as part of those 3 stories so players will want to take the time to tackle each of them. It is interesting that players can simply run the gym challenge and have nothing to do with the evil team of the region or any of the school portion of the story though. I’m still waiting on the game where I get to play as Team Rocket. But I’m getting distracted.

Several more new Pokémon have been revealed in the last few weeks as well. After Lechonk broke the internet with its reveal, no one expected another Pokémon to be revealed that stopped people in their tracks. Then Wiglett was revealed. Wiglett is a worm-like Pokémon that bears a strong resemblance to Diglett, but is actually entirely unrelated. The internet went nuts over this guy. If you haven’t seen it yet, head here to take a look and then I think you’ll understand. Also revealed is an evolution for Giragarig named Farigiraf. And none of those are typos, I assure you. Finally, the main partner for the Electric-type gym was revealed and it’s name is Bellibolt. Bellibolt is an electric frog that is round, adorable, and probably pretty strong. This new generation is shaping up nicely and it will be exciting to see what Pokemon from previous generations make an appearance to go with them.

With just over a month to go until release, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo are doing their best to keep the hype strong. With word coming out that Sword and Shield will be receiving its last content update on November 1, all eyes will truly be on this next generation of Pokémon games.
