Can gamers even celebrate the new year without receiving a new Pokémon Direct? Well, The Pokémon Company has a packed year ahead of itself in terms of mobile games and the surprise announcement of a new Legends game.

While the showcase was only roughly 13 minutes long, Pokémon mobile games took up a majority of the show, featuring a Pokémon Horizons: The Series collaboration coming to Pokémon Go. The crossover highlights the new Pokémon Horizons: The Series show coming to Netflix on March 7th. Pokémon Unite, the MOBA Pokémon title, is receiving new events and a new Unite license for Miraidon. Later in the year, Falinks and Ceruledge will be obtainable as well. Pokémon Sleep will be receiving Raikou in March, with Entei and Suicune coming later in the year.

The biggest stories from the showcase were the announcement of Pokémon Legends: Z-A for Nintendo Switch and the new Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app. Pokémon TCG Pocket will feature collectable digital cards and allow users to compete in quick battles with simplified rules. The digital cards will be “immersive” and will allow gamers to jump into the world of the card illustrations. No date was announced for Pokémon TCG Pocket, but gamers can expect it in 2024. Then comes Pokémon Legends Z-A (with a release date of “sometime in 2025”), where Pokémon fans will get to travel to Lumiose City with the story setting around an urban redevelopment plan where humans and Pokémon will live together.

Pokémon fans have a lot to be excited for in 2024…and 2025!
