Pre-orders for the next World of Warcraft expansion were announced this week, but the bigger news may have been Blizzard announcing that Dragonflight will be released before the end of 2022.

Blizzard announced a total of four pre-order options for Dragonflight: three digital pre-order editions and one collector’s set. The first is the Standard Edition priced at $50 and includes the expansion plus Drakks pet. The next tier is the Heroic Edition priced at $70 which includes everything in the Standard Edition plus a flying mount, a pet, and a character boost to level 60 (which is a $60 value in itself). The Epic Edition, priced at $90, includes everything from the Heroic Edition plus 30 days of play time, a special Hearthstone effect, and a transmog set.

The fourth and final pre-order option is the Dragonflight Epic Edition Collector’s set. Priced at $130 (located in the Blizzard Gear Shop), the Collector’s Set includes a hardback art book, Alexstrasza mouse pad, collector’s pin set, and all the digital pre-order bonuses for the hardcore fans of World of Warcraft.

While most World of Warcraft fans expected to hear a release date of early 2023, Blizzard revealed (in the fine print of the pre-orders) that the game will release “on or before December 31, 2022.”
