Ragnarök is coming and it’s coming in 2022. This week Sony announced that their highly awaited sequel to God of War (2018) would be making it out in time for the holidays this year with it set to launch on November 9th for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. With delays continuing to be prevalent throughout the industry, many feared that Kratos and Atreus would find their next adventure bumped to 2023, but all doubts are now dispelled and an electrifying sequel awaits us later this year.
The latest cinematic trailer, titled “Father and Son”, didn’t reveal much in terms of new information, but we did get a sneak peek of what is most likely a future fight against Fenrir, a Wolf-Giant-god who should play a sizable role in this sequel. In addition to the new, although brief trailer, Sony also graced us with a new collection of stills that can be viewed here.
Last, but far from least, the true star of the reveal (outside of the official release date, of course) was the breakdown of the available editions of the game. God of War Ragnarök will be available in four different editions: Standard, Digital Deluxe, Collector’s, and Jötnar. All editions will include the “Kratos Risen Snow Armor” and the “Atreus Risen Snow Tunic” for pre-orders. The full breakdown of the different editions, including steelbook display cases, dice sets, cloth maps, and a 16” Mjölnir replica can be found here. Preorders begin next week on July 15th.
