The Washington Redskins have gone from worst to first.
The team has changed the culture in one short year and Jay Gruden has been affirmed in his decision to go with Kirk Cousins. Cousins has done more then that though. He has set record in route to the revival of the burgundy and gold in Washington D.C..
Cousins set the franchise record for single season passing yards with 4,135 yards. He added 3 touchdowns to his totals, in just the first quarter against Dallas and was able to watch from the sidelines as his team went on to win their 4th straight game. Gruden has given him all the support possible and sent him out every week and the city has watched him grow into a leader this team needs. People in the city were wary at the beginning of the year if he would last. Now they are arguing over how long Cousins new contract should be next season.
The offense got off to a slow start but became a pass first team in the weeks after DeSean Jackson’s return to the lineup. He and a arsenal of receivers have made it look easy for Cousins. Jordan Reed has had a career year and been a favorite target for Cousins coming up with big plays late in games and created match up nightmares close to those that of Rob Gronkowski The question for the Redskins going into the postseason is how will they run the football.

Running the ball has been a struggle for most of the season. Gruden has gone to huge stable with Matt Jones, Chris Thompson, Alfred Morris, and the latest addition of veteran Pierre Thomas. Jones seemed to have taken over as the feature back, but lost fumbles cost him that spot. Morris has been Mr. Consistent all year. In the offseason he worked on his hands to make him more then just a power runner. The Redskins will just have to trust that one of them will get hot and stay hot so the playoff run for the Redskins does not just rest on Cousins arm.
This team has a great chance going forward to carry this momentum into the playoffs. They have nothing to lose, so this could be a team to watch. Young guns who can let it all hang out is a dangerous package for anyone.
