Nintendo gave fans a Nintendo Direct this week and they packed it about as full of news as was possible. There were game announcements, trailers, Switch ports, and a couple of surprises that fans had been waiting for. Let’s talk about some of the highlights:

Bottom line upfront: The Legend of Zelda stole the show. After years of (im)patiently waiting for more news, fans finally got an official title for the Breath of the Wild sequel. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom comes out May 12, 2023. Nintendo gave us a short gameplay trailer but other than that, there is very little that has been revealed about the game.

Furthering the fan service, Nintendo also revealed the next mainline Fire Emblem game and it’s coming in January! Fire Emblem Engage is coming January 20, 2023. The game will feature a story that involves summoning heroes from past Fire Emblem games to help you on your mission.

The indie hit Tunic is making its way to the Switch on September 27th, further expanding the audience for one of the most well-received games to come out this year.

If it’s more sequels you’re after, Octopath Traveler 2 was announced. It will feature 8 new travelers for your party and comes out February 24, 2023.

A new batch of Nintendo 64 games are heading to Nintendo Switch Online, including Pokémon Stadium and 3 Mario Party games. There’s also GoldenEye 007, which you’ll read more about below.

Finally, fans got confirmation on another sequel that’s been long-rumored with no firm details. That’s right, Pikmin 4 is coming our way sometime in 2023. While there was no gameplay shown, it was assured that the Nintendo Switch makes controlling the Pikmin easier than ever.

If you want to see the rest of the amazing announcements for yourself, you can watch the entire presentation here. Fans of every genre and every age had something to celebrate. It really is amazing how much Nintendo was able to give to its fans in just 40 minutes of presentation. Once you’ve had a chance to watch the whole thing, head over to Twitter and tell us what game or reveal you are most excited about!
