While far from needing to be saved, Apex Legends is getting a significant chunk of content when its 13th season “Saviors” drops next week. Based on what we know so far, Season 13 is set to bring a new legend “Newcastle”, map changes to “Storm Point” (Apex’s newest map), an overhaul to the current ranked system, and of course a new battle pass to grind as well.
Storm The Castle: …the Newcastle that is! Coming in as the newest addition to the Apex Legends roster, Jackson “Newcastle” Williams slates in as a heroic defender hailing from his homeworld of Gridiron and bringing with him a kit packed full of shielding abilities. His tactical ability “Mobile Shield” allows him to throw a controllable drone that in-turn creates a moving energy shield to block out the haters (or in this case the enemies). Passively, Newcastle is able to drag downed allies, protecting them with…you guessed it…a shield, his revive shield in fact. Last, but far from least, Newcastle’s ultimate ability “Castle Wall” allows him to leap to an ally or targeted area, slamming down and creating a fortified wall to use as cover. Shields for days.
Monstrous Map Changes: The tropical island paradise of “Storm Point” has huge changes in store with its first map update landing in Season 13. An enormous, dead sea creature has washed up on shore creating a new high tier loot location and the belly of a monster to explore. Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation (IMC) armories have also started to pop up across the map, providing players with a payload of weapons and the chance at valuable, loadout-catered smart loot if players can survive against multiple waves of spawning spectres.
Revamping Ranked: Ranked made its Apex Legends debut all the way back in Season 2 and now just over 10 seasons later, the developers are ready to begin usering in a new age of ranked play. From the removal of caps on kill rewards to the addition of tier demotions, major changes are coming. Read the full patch notes here.
Check out the latest trailer and get ready to dive in when “Saviors” drops on Tuesday, May 10th.
