One of the most anticipated games in recent memory just gave gamers 45-minutes of pure galactic bliss! The Starfield Direct delivered everything gamers wanted ever since the small glimpse they got back in 2021. Packed with gameplay footage that featured combat, travel, building of spaceships and outposts, and even very in-depth customization options (which if you are like me, will consume the first 40 hours of gameplay), Starfield continues to blow the minds of gamers looking forward to the next AAA title from Bethesda Game Studios.
Hey Dawg, I Heard You Like Planets: If you are bored of games that only give you four or five destinations, Starfield is your medicine. With over 1,000 planets to explore, Starfield will be almost impossible for the achievement hunter to 100%…in a reasonable time. The promise is that the planets will all be unique with their own ecosystem, resources, missions, creatures, and more! Players will be able to build outposts on these planets to help farm resources, cargo runs, and research stations to help the player along their journey.
Make Me Look Pretty: Did I mention it will take me 40 hours to create my player and ship? No? Well it will! The amount of customization in Starfield will allow players to create their avatar to represent their personalities in-game. With dozens and dozens of customization features, gamers will truly get a one-of-a-kind experience. From there, gamers will then choose their character’s background story and traits. From Explorer, Chef, Cyber Runner, Ronin, and my personal favorite, Gangster. Once gamers are set to explore starry skies and escape the in-depth player customization screen, they will then be tasked to create their spaceship (in another 40-hours of customization that will consume my life and playing time. Don’t worry, I have warned my family and friends…I have not gone missing, I’m building my ship!).
Don’t Pick Me Last!: Gamers will get to create their own teams to help assist their galactic travels. Some teammates will be set based on the player’s background, and some will join your crew from your travels. Crew members can be left at bases on the planets to assist in resource collecting and other missions you are attempting to complete.
Pew Pew, Bang, BOOM: The combat mechanics were probably the most anticipated part of the show. Gamers will have the option to play in first or third-person view modes while experiencing fast-paced combat. Add in jetpack skills, explosives, and unique weapons, fighting will be a unique experience for all gamer types.
Starfield is set to launch on September 6, 2023. It will be available day one on Xbox Game Pass. Bethesda also announced a limited edition Starfield Xbox controller and headset alongside more expensive editions (which will allow a five day head start on the game).
