Summer is rapidly approaching and gamers everywhere are gearing up for news and updates from all over the industry. E3 may be canceled this year, but there is no shortage of gaming showcases and news conferences to fill that gap. In fact, it’s pretty clear that all of these companies hosting their own showcases is exactly why there is no E3 this year. Summer Game Fest is scheduled and ready. Xbox has announced 3 different showcases. PlayStation likely has a State of Play brewing. And Nintendo could have a Direct at any time. If you are looking for gaming news, stay tuned. All the big players are bringing it.

Summer Game Fest kicks off all the fun on June 8. The event always brings a big variety of world premieres and fun conversations. Following SGF will be Xbox with 3 different showcases. June 11 will see an Xbox Games Showcase that promises to reveal new titles that haven’t been announced yet as well as updates on hotly anticipated games, even if it’s not clear which ones. Noticeably absent from the Xbox Games Showcase will be Starfield. That’s because Xbox is devoting an entire showcase to the Bethesda title directly after their main showcase. This Starfield Direct will show off gameplay, give new details, and show interviews with developers. Following this will be the PC Gaming Showcase. And just like last year, Xbox will have the Xbox Games Showcase Extended on June 13, showing more footage of announced games as well as interviews from developers.

Another announced showcase is the Ubisoft Forward on June 12. All that’s currently known for this showcase is there will be “game updates and reveals” which could mean anything. Gamescom is coming in August, kicking off August 22. PlaysStation is rumored to have a State of Play this summer as well (we’ve been hearing late May on this one). While there’s no hard date revealed, PlayStation has plenty of projects in development. They certainly aren’t going to sit back and let their rivals dominate the news cycle for long. Nintendo is likely to be the same way, but they follow their own schedule so anything is possible.

While E3 brought a lot of structure to the summer games news cycle, the cancellation of the event has clearly done nothing to slow down the release of news to gamers everywhere. Even if there is not one single event to unite all the announcements, summer is shaping up once again to be chock full of new game announcements, updates on existing projects, and something totally unexpected to get gamers talking and news outlets everywhere rushing to publish their latest articles as fast as they can. Stay tuned here to get caught up all at once!
