Xbox has been powered on this week with a slew of announcements across the board from deepening partnerships to revving up an exciting new expansion to creating a brand new tv series from the ground up. Let’s dive in!
Xbox + Discord: Building on a partnership that was officially announced 4 years ago, Xbox and Discord are bringing Discord voice to Xbox console users this week (beginning with insiders), furthering connectivity between gamers across Xbox consoles, PC, and mobile platforms. More
Celebrating Women: Xbox is partnering up with the NY Liberty, Atlanta Dream, England Senior Women’s Football Team, France Senior Women’s Football Team, and others to inspire the next generation of women gamers and athletes to dream big. In addition to in-person activations, fans are invited to check out the ‘Power Her Dreams’ web portal where they can submit their dreams and choose to have Microsoft send a $10 donation to either the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation or Girls Who Code. Rev Up Your Engines: Popular racing title Forza Horizon 5 received its first DLC expansion this week. With ‘Hot Wheels’ as its overarching theme, one can imagine that the new expansion features huge jumps, gravity-defying loops, and the iconic orange track, but honestly that just scratches the surface. By the numbers, players are looking at 212km/151mi of track, 156 missions, 42 events, 87 Eventlab props, 45 collectibles, 10 new cars, 3 new biomes (Giant’s Canyon, Ice Cauldron, and Forest Falls), and 5 track types (ice, water flume, rumble, magnet, and air)…it’s HUGE to say the least! Eventually Streaming: Obsidian Entertainment’s Grounded IP is headed to some sort of streaming service near you at some point in the future. Grounded has amassed over 10 million players since launching into early access in 2020 and now the game is set to get an animated tv adaptation with Star Wars: Clone Wars’ Brent Friedman doing the writing and Halo 4’s Brien Goodrich sitting in the director’s chair. The Grounded show joins a plethora of video games currently being adapted over to tv shows and movies. More
Coming to Game Pass: Last, but not least Xbox also announced the next slate of games joining Game Pass for the second half of July. From new interactive drama As Dusk Falls to popular Ubisoft title Watch Dogs 2, the new lineup has plenty of quality across the board. More
