Ubisoft announced the latest game set in the Tom Clancy universe, Tom Clancy’s xDefiant, with a fun and colorful reveal trailer. The trailer was a nice mix of gameplay, flashes of color, and commentary from the Ubisoft team. While some of the game elements look out of place in a Tom Clancy game, one element seems to be right at home and a major focus: the gunplay.
What is xDefiant? xDefiant is a 6v6 multiplayer arena shooter with a focus on gunplay as the most important element. To use their own words xDefiant is “fast-paced firefights meets punk rock mosh pits.” Sounds pretty sweet to me. The game will feature at least four factions and a high degree of customization. Choose everything from your primary and secondary weapon, your ultra (ultimate, in other games), your equipment, and of course your look. Customize attachments to your weapons so that they fit your playstyle, whatever that may be. It’s clear that Ubisoft wants players to find what works and is fun for them, instead of getting locked into a particular class with limited choices.
The game will be available on PS4/5, Xbox One/Series X|S, PC, and game streaming services at launch with cross-play enabled. If you really can’t wait to try it, there’s a PC beta on August 5. You can read more about the game and sign up for the beta here.
