Ubisoft announced changes to its subscription service, Ubisoft+, that include adding a new, cheaper tier that gives access to certain popular titles. The timing coincided with the release of the new Prince of Persia title, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, which has received a lot of positive buzz in the last couple weeks. Gone are the Ubisoft+ PC Access and Ubisoft+ Multi-Access tiers and in their place is simply Ubisoft+ Premium and Ubisoft+ Classic.
Ubisoft+ Premium combines the two previous tiers and gives access to players on Xbox, PC, and Amazon Luna all for $17.99 a month. Previous PC Access subscribers get to keep their current tier and price with no changes. Ubisoft+ Premium subscribers get day one and even early access to the latest Ubisoft games along with their DLCs. That included three days of early access to Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown this week if you subscribed. The Ubisoft+ Premium catalog contains a massive amount of games and content to dive into.
Ubisoft+ Classic is the new, cheaper tier introduced by Ubisoft. It will cost you $7.99 a month on the PC and is included with PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium memberships as well. This new tier currently includes 47 of Ubisoft’s more popular games, such as Fallout 4, Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry 6, Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs: Legion. Ubisoft says the Classic catalog will expand over time with more games added into it as they age or grow in popularity. This tier gives Ubisoft a more affordable tier to appeal to gamers who are looking for more options but can’t necessarily afford the Premium offering or other more expensive subscriptions.
Activision Blizzard games will be coming to Ubisoft+ Premium in the future as well. Ubisoft gained the rights to those games as part of the Microsoft acquisition, but it’s not yet known when those games will be available for streaming. Ubisoft is primed to be a big player in the game streaming space thanks to its own extensive catalog of games and the addition of Activision Blizzard. Having multiple tier levels is a great way to bring more subscribers into the space and allow the service to continue to grow.
