The first major content patch (10.1) of World of Warcraft’s Dragonflight expansion is coming on May 2nd. “Embers of Neltharion” will add a new zone, extended story campaign, new quests, cosmetics, and plenty of content for all types of gamers to enjoy. Along with the added content, the second raid of the expansion will be released as well.
One added feature of this patch will be the “Fyrakk Assaults” world event. This event will allow players to get rare achievements and earn new gear for battling in the assaults. The event is following the success of the “Primal Storms” event (pre-patch for Dragonflight) and “Legion Assaults” from the Broken Isles campaign.
The new zone, Zaralek Cavern, is an underground zone directly under the Dragon Isles. In this zone, players will discover new world quests, objectives, rares, and dragonflying glyphs. The new raid, Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, will also be located in the new zone. The raid takes place in Neltharion’s secret laboratory where he created the Dracthyr and where he ultimately was seduced by the Old Gods and became Deathwing.
Along with new story content, Blizzard announced a new gearing system. Gear will be earned in through two new currencies, Flightstones and Shadowflame Crests. Flightstones can be earned by completing world quests, killing rares, running mythic dungeons, or killing a raid boss, Shadowflame Crests and their fragments will come from open world content, mythic dungeons, and raids.
Perhaps the biggest change coming in patch 10.1 is the ability to create cross faction guilds. For the longest time, Horde and Alliance have put aside their differences and teamed up to save Azeroth time and time again. Now, players can team up to complete guild achievements and all types of PvE and PvP content. The guilds will still be related to either the Horde or the Alliance, depending on the guild leader.
