Microsoft and Xbox once again pushed themselves back to the top of the gaming conversation, at least for a little bit, with another presentation. This time gamers were treated to 30 minutes packed with 14 games, some new games and some new looks at already known games, in the Xbox Partner Preview March 2024. There was plenty to be excited about, including a few surprises, to keep players going until the next big update for the world of video games. Some highlights of the show included:
Far and away the biggest name in the showcase was Final Fantasy XIV. The hit MMORPG is currently in beta on Xbox consoles and now the full launch is coming March 21. There will even be a starter bundle for a limited time for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to take advantage of until April 19.
The biggest surprise of the preview was the news that the beloved PC series S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is available to play on Xbox consoles right now in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Legends of the Zone Trilogy for the Xbox One and via backward compatibility on the Xbox Series X|S. It’s a win for console players who may have never had the chance to dive into these excellent games.
Fans of the Persona series got a treat with the announcement of some Persona 3 Reload DLC coming to the game. The DLC will feature extended story content with Episode Aigis -The Answer plus new costumes and music from other games. Episode Aigis isn’t coming until September but other additional content will start trickling out before that. And if you are an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber, you can get the DLC for free as a Game Pass perk!
The first game shown was Unknown 9: Awakening, a game described as a supernatural third person action game. The game was first revealed at Gamescom in 2020 and focuses on Haroona, a woman gifted with supernatural powers used to battle enemies across an Indian city.
The Sinking City 2 got a world premiere during the showcase, showing everyone that the sequel to the Lovecraftian game is on its way and diving deeper into the world of horror. Good news for gamers everywhere, the game will be on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
To see the other nine games shown during the event, you can check out the Xbox blog here. It’s definitely worth taking thirty minutes to watch the whole thing on the Xbox YouTube channel though. There are several more world premieres and several more updates to expected titles to check out. There’s even good news if you are a fan of monster trucks and Monster Jam, which were not words I expected to appear in gaming news anytime soon. Go check it out and let us know on our socials which announcement you are most excited for!
