For all the issues that have befallen Bungie of late, the development team for Destiny 2 is firing on all cylinders and fans are eating it up. The new in-game event Into the Light went live last week after being revealed several months ago and it’s been a major hit. Destiny 2 is back in the concurrent players charts and chatter about the game online is buzzing with positivity. On top of a successful free content launch, Bungie devs got fans very excited with a big reveal coming in The Final Shape.

For Into the Light, players get to jump into a new wave-based activity that is most definitely Destiny 2 Horde Mode. Players have to defend a location while taking out 9 waves of enemies before taking down a boss to earn rewards. These rewards can take the form of new armor or, more importantly, weapon drops from the BRAVE arsenal. The BRAVE arsenal are weapons from previous Destiny content with new perks and a sweet new look to them. Speaking of new looks, the update also brings the ability for players to change what their character looks like. As a player who carried their character over from the original Destiny, this is a very welcome change. The free update also includes a new Raid boss challenge called Pantheon and 3 new multiplayer maps which are all releasing in the coming weeks.

Fans of the series knew that some crazy and weird things could happen in The Final Shape with the events taking place inside the Traveler. Even with this expectation, the reveal of Prismatic Guardians took their collective breath away. Prismatic is a chance for Guardians to wield Darkness and The Light for the first time ever. It also lets Guardians combine skills from multiple subclasses to basically break the game, and that’s the point. This expansion looks to transform the game in the way that players always want but seldom get. The delay of its original launch appears to be paying off and hype is now at an all-time high.

Into the Light is the perfect time for players who have been away for a long time or who have never played at all to jump in. Get a rundown of the story, collect some awesome gear, and get ready for a massive conclusion arc that will take your breath away. Into the Light is available now and The Final Shape launches on June 4, 2024.
